Tampa Bay Legacy Project was founded by Joe Marzo in 2021. It is dedicated to researching, educating, and preserving the rich and diverse history of the Tampa Bay region. From the ancient indigenous cultures that first called these lands home, to the pioneering spirits who shaped our communities, we work to uncover, document, and share the stories that define who we are today.

Our Mission

We are committed to three core pillars:

  • Research: Conducting thorough historical investigations, oral history projects, and archival work to deepen our understanding of Tampa Bay’s past.

  • Education: Creating engaging programs, workshops, lectures, and resources for students, educators, and the general public to foster a lasting appreciation for local heritage.

  • Preservation: Advocating for the protection of historic sites, landmarks, and artifacts while supporting responsible stewardship of Tampa Bay’s cultural treasures.

Through these efforts, we aim to connect past and present, ensuring that the unique legacy of our region—its people, places, and traditions—is safeguarded for future generations.
